Musicians
- The Fresco piano trio was recently formed by the violinist Birthe Blom, cellist Katharina Gross and pianist Yoram Ish-Hurwitz. Each can boast of a successful international career as a soloist, important awards, and study at renowned institutes such as the Juilliard School, Conservatoire de Lausanne and Musikhochschule Köln. Their collaboration as a trio already led to an extensive series of concerts in the Netherlands and Austria in 2011.Birthe Blom | violinViolonist Birthe Blom graduated in Lausanne with Pierre Amoyal and received her soloist diploma with honors. She won many awards both nationally and internationally, including first prize at the National Violin Competition Oskar Back and the European Music Prize. Birthe has given many recitals in the Netherlands, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as in eleven European countries, USA and Japan. She performed as a soloist with the Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Chamber Philharmonic, The Hague Philharmonic, L'Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and Camerata de Lausanne in major concert halls including the Big Auditorium of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. www.birtheblom.com (Dutch only)Katharina Gross | cello
Cellist Katharina Gross, multi-award winning at international competitions, studied at the Musikhochschule Lübeck with David Geringas, at the Musikhochschule Cologne with Frans Helmerson and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Ralph Kirshbaum. In 2009 she founded Concertello, which has organized a chamber music concert series in Steiermark, Austria ever since. As part of her organizational activities, she received an international scholarship for leadership in the field of culture 2010/11 from the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture in Vienna. Katherina Gross is a member of the New Viennese quartet and Fresco piano trio in the Netherlands. She played as a soloist and chamber musician in world-famous concert halls including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Kennedy Center in Washington. www.katharinagross.net (German only)
Yoram Ish-Hurwitz | pianoYoram Ish-Hurwitz has studied piano with Danièle Dechenne and Jan Wijn at the Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam, György Sándor at the Juilliard School in New York and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling in his soloist class in Hanover. He won several prizes and scholarships and gave recitals in many European countries and the U.S.. He is a Steinway Artist since 2003 and a board member of the Franz Liszt Kring in the Netherlands since 2007. Among his projects are the complete performances of the cycles Années de Pèlerinage by Liszt and Iberia by Albéniz, both in concerts and on CDs. Recently Yoram Ish-Hurwitz has also been involved in chamber music projects: as artistic leader of the chamber music festival Landgoedconcerten Oranjewoud, with double-bass player Szymon Marciniak and as a member of the newly formed Fresco piano trio. www.ish-hurwitz.nl
